Narkomfin Building
The Narkomfin apartment building was a prototype for Modernist Public Housing. While only two of the planned four structures were constructed - those being the apartment building and laundry building - the Narkomfin set an example for what employee housing could look like, so much so that Le Corbusier modeled his Unite d’Habitation on the methods used in its conception.

Siedlung Halen
Nestled in a south-facing forest glade above the Aare river, less than five kilometers north of the city of Bern, the Halen Estate forms the residential area and living space made up of eighty-one units. It has been the canonical prototype for low-rise, high density housing for the last half of the 20th century. Built on a south-facing hillside on the outskirts of the city of Bern, it incorporates many of the ideas of the modernist program of the 1920's about community and privacy, garden city notions of a healthy life-style in a suburban setting, and attitudes about materials and standardization.
